SDSOP is hiring Process servers in the following areas:

  • 1 Server in East County - nights and weekends

  • 1 Server in Carlsbad, Oceanside, Fallbrook - nights and weekends

  • 1 Server in San Diego and South Bay

  • Two - 2-hour sessions on Saturdays from 12-2 pm

  • Only 6 spaces are available for each session

A sample of topics covered in classes

  • What does a process server really accomplish with a service?

  • Personal Service, Substituted Service, and Posting clarified

  • Covering the basics of Process Serving; How to properly serve a Summons & Complaint – 3, 30 & 60-day Notices, Unlawful Detainers, Small Claims cases, Dissolution of Marriage, Restraining Orders, etc; Out of State services including Notarization

  • How to properly complete the Capacity Notice

  • You will receive multiple handouts to make life easier on you

  • How to get the door open – How to properly effectuate service so they stick

  • This is an interactive class, so be prepared to practice your craft while you are here; everyone will have the opportunity to serve each type of document during the sessions

  • War stories are an important part of the learning process so we will have 30 minutes dedicated to various situations encountered and questions and answers as to how they were handled, during the second hour of each session

  • Codes of Civil Procedure (CCP) will be discussed and how they apply to different types of services

  • Proof of Service  – Your part of the  Service is not complete until you deliver the signed POS

  • Skip Tracing in 2022; Marketing your Process Server Business

  • Military Bases – Jails - Prisons – the ins & outs

  • Examples of Process Serving Agencies making errors and getting sued; don’t think that a $2000 bond covers you for all damages you may cause – it does not.

  • Tony Klein’s “Guide to Service of Process in California, is the recommended publication for all Registered Process Servers – they can be purchased through the Process Servers Institute ($63.00 psinstitute.com) – it is not mandatory for this series but highly recommended (even if you don’t take the classes).

  • We have stood by This process server's manual since the ’90s.
